Safety First:
The Protections Built Into Aila

We’ve built multiple layers of protection into Aila to keep people and dogs safe.

Aila Shield

Safety Monitoring

Our AI safety monitoring checks all input and output across 20+ safety categories. Aila is trained to redirect unsafe or harmful methods during conversations, and to avoid offering guidance outside of positive, evidence-backed practices.

She detects when training or behavior questions require human involvement and pauses the conversation until a consultant can help. If a safety flag is triggered, message functionality is locked until human review takes place.

Human Oversight

Every Council Report and initial plan is reviewed by an INSTINCT® behavior consultant.

If something seems unclear, concerning, or not suited to your dog and situation, a human expert steps in and updates your plan.

Assessment-Based Triage

If your initial assessment shows significant safety risks (such as significant human-directed aggression, severe dog-dog aggression, or goals that appear unsafe for dogs or people), Aila will:

  • pause immediately
  • alert the Instinct behavior team
  • wait for human guidance before providing you with your personalized plan

Your safety, and your dog’s wellbeing, always come first.

"Flag for Human Review" Function

Anytime something feels confusing, emotionally hard, or not quite right, you can request human review of Aila’s response with a single tap, at no extra cost.

WHAT AILA CAN AND CANNOT DO

Aila Can:

  • help you understand your dog’s behavior
  • give you a clear, personalized training plan
  • support you day-to-day with questions and adjustments
  • help you track progress
  • work alongside your trainer or veterinarian
  • provide structure, encouragement, and clarity
  • help shelters and rescues support fosters and new adopters

Aila Cannot:

  • diagnose medical issues
  • replace a veterinarian
  • advise harmful or punishment-based methods
  • physically intervene in dangerous situations
  • offer guidance outside her training or ethical boundaries

These limits are intentional. They keep you and your dog safe.

Your Data Stays Private & Protected

Behavior help must be grounded in trust. Here’s what that means for your information:

  • We do not sell or share your personal data with outside companies.
  • Your personal information is not used to train external AI models
  • You can request human oversight of any conversation
  • You're in control of what information you share, and when you share it
