She enjoys working with all breeds and temperaments; she is experienced in manners & life skills, puppy development, service dog training, and some behavior modification. Lys is especially passionate about helping puppies develop into confident, happy adults, and about helping potential dog owners find the perfect breed and/or temperament match for their family. Lys began training puppies for Canine Companions for Independence at 12 years old, completing the program with 11 dogs. Before joining Instinct, Lys conducted board and train programs, taught puppy kindergarten classes, and ran puppy socialization sessions. She has a keen eye for appropriate puppy play and body language, and loves helping owners understand what their puppy is communicating. Lys lives in San Diego with her two kids and her 6-month-old guinea pig, Hazel.
